If I could time travel I would go back to the dawn of creation when Adam and Eve were in the garden. I think it would be great to stop the serpent from pulling the wool over Eve’s eyes. Maybe if someone had been there micromanaging and telling her again and again “don’t touch” she wouldn’t have. It would be great to see the garden with its unimaginable perfection; plus the history of mankind would turn out differently. Eve and Adam’s souls wouldn’t have been tainted. This wicked world would exist only as a shadow of a possibility. That’s my ideal time travel trip.

I could imagine a fantasy confrontation. I imagine it more as a questioning than a condemnation. I would like to know lots of things that can only be understood by asking the right person or persons. Even then I probably wouldn’t get all the answers. I would like to try in order to gain clarity about myself. This isn’t necessary, however. I don’t spend a lot of time wishing to confront anyone. Perhaps some things are best left alone. If I could, I would instead try to help the person understand why they did what they did.

One of my favorite childhood memories is how we used to get the occasional junk food treat. It’s a big deal when the family is on a budget and can’t afford much. The rare box of cookies becomes magnified as if it were a celebration. Those infrequent Oreos were as thrilling to hoard as they were to eat. Simply having them was enough. Eating them was even better. The milk tasted sweeter. Colors were brighter. Even the waxy filling was delicious to a treat-craving kid. Now I no longer crave junk. I stick to my health food instead.
